1. Rashtriya Military School (Erstwhile King George's School) Dholpur was raised as the fifth and the youngest Rashtriya Military School on 16 Jul 1962. Its inaugural ceremony was performed on 18 Aug 1962 by Late Shri KV Krishna Menon, the then Defence Minister. The School is housed in the Kesarbagh Palace, a magnificent mansion of the former ruler of the erstwhile Dholpur estate. The city of Dholpur (also spelled Dhaulpur) is located on the National Highway No 3 equidistance between Agra and Gwalior and on the Central Railway Main Line.
2. 06 Hostels, Staff Quarters, 10 bedded MI Room, CSD, Tradesmen Shops, MT Garage, Gymnasium, Assembly Hall, Ration Stores, Clothing Stores and Cadets Mess are built separately on a hillock about one Km away from the Academic cum Office Complex at Kesarbagh Palace. The two campuses namely Academic Block and Residential Block are known as "Old Campus" and "New Campus" respectively, occupying an area of around 264 acres. To provide intensive training and coaching to cadets in various outdoor and indoor games, the School has three Football fields, one Hockey field, two courts each for Basket Ball and Volley Ball, Athletics track, Gymnasium, OTCT, Cricket Field and Tennis and Squash Courts.
3. When the School was established, the numbers of students were 75 with classes from Class V to VII. There were only two Houses Udaibhan and Vikram. In 1964, the name of the School was changed to Dholpur Military School. By 1970, this institution had attained a high popularity and gradually the strength of the cadets was raised to 200. On 20 Jan 1971, the foundation stone of New Campus was laid by Brig Bhumi Chand and in 1974 the cadets were shifted to the New Campus. Two more houses were constructed - Chittor and Ujjain. Later on, Assembly Hall (Vivekanand Hall), Cadets' Mess, Laboratories, Tradesmen Shop, Gymnasium and other buildings were constructed. In 1980, two more houses namely Nalanda and Taxila (later named as Jagan) were added when the strength of the cadets was raised to 300. The present strength of the School is 376 Boarders and 14 staff child. The strength of the School has been further enhanced to 450 which is being implemented in phased manner.
4. Rashtriya Military School, Dholpur is a fully residential school and run on public school lines and is part of IPSC. School follow CBSE curricular and prepares its cadets. The school prepares its cadets for All India Secondary School Exam (Class X) and All India Senior School Certificate Exam (Class XII) under 10+2 pattern of education of the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi. The academic session starts from 01 Apr and terminates on 31 Mar each year.
5. Admissions are made in Class VI and IX. The age limit of boys eligible for admission in class VI is between 10 and 12 years and for admission in class IX is between 13 to 15 years as on 01 Apr. The School also provides facilities with a view to prepare the eligible cadets for entrance to the National Defence Academy / Naval Academy. The aim of Rashtriya Military School is “To impart quality education and prepare the cadets to join the Defence Services”. The Moto of Rashtriya Military School is “Character is the Highest Virtue” (Shilam Param Bhushanam)
